The Galles pit crew servicing Adrian Fernandez during his third stop at Laguna Seca. This picture required good relations with the
Galles team, and after doing some work for their web page, I was trusted enough to get one of their firesuits at Mid Ohio. There I got the first set
of up-close pit action pictures, but somehow I wasn't satisfied. Even though I had a 20mm lens there, the car was cropped on most frames. At Laguna Seca
I asked them again for a firesuit (no way am I gonna stand at the fuel hose wearing jeans! At Mid Ohio two other cars caught fire only a few feet down pit lane...).
this itme I had the 14mm ready, and I decided to use the flash to get the fase of the fueler illuminated inside his helmet. It worked! The picture has som much
detail in it, that the JPEG compression just can't squeeze it down much, but even if you're on a slow network link, downloading this image is well
worth the wait. This is just about as good as a racing picture can get!
