His second day in Indycar: Mid Ohio early Saturday morning, and Fangio is one of the first drivers in their cars. He clearly had a lot of questions and issues to resolve with team members, which gave me the rare opportunity to get a shot of a driver in car without helmet. Almost all other drivers put their helmets on before getting into the car. I was using the long 300mm in pit lane, and as always, I got the shot while people with shorter lenses were crowded and trying to get into position. Seconds later a big umbrella took away the nice backlighting. Although a fill flash could have added a lot of punch, I like the backlight. There is still plenty of detail in his face, and it doesn't look as artificial as those stobe shots sometimes do.
