| Now we are ready for the soldering job. You will need a "third hand tool" or a person with steady hands to help you do this. In this picture everything is ready to solder the first conductor. The end of the Eichmann plug is inserted into an RCA jack as heat sink, plus there's an alligator clip to hold the small wire in place for the solder. You want the wire to touch the plug and the solder only to secure that connection. Do not run the signal through "wire - solder - plug" as this will significantly reduce the performance of these plugs (or any other plug). If there's old solder from a previous cable build (I recycled these plugs) use desoldering braid to clean them up first. |
